EdPlace
Description
EdPlace is an online educational resource for parents and children. Parents sign up and create accounts for their children and assign worksheets across most key stages and subjects. Worksheets are all interactive with printed versions available.
The extensive site redesign covered:
- Website general design including homepage, supporting pages and a CMS template
- Parent account area, 'My EdPlace', where parents manage their accounts, create child accounts, view and assign worksheets and rewards as well as monitor progress
- Child interactive worksheet and account area where children complete various worksheets and view their own progress
- Teacher worksheet input form - allowing teachers to add worksheets to the site
The design philosophy was about keeping everything simple, introducing a friendly tone and applying a consistent colour scheme. To this end a balance of creativity and information architecture was required for each major section and the challenge each presented.
Designs were submitted to the client who passed on the templates to developers based in India. Keeping the design consistent with the final coded pages is always a dilemma therefore the site is under constant revision.
