Logo for high-end personal training company
This logo and look and feel was developed for a personal training company which wanted to target the higher end of the consumer market. Various concepts/colour options were provided with the client settling on this one.
The use of a classic typeface tempered with a contemporary sans serif provides a sense of sophistication and stability but also a little bit of modern thinking and approach.
The one-to-one relationship is highlighted in the use of 'g' representing the trainer and 'b' the customer (raised to give a sense of progress and balanced on a solid platform representing the supporting and holistic nature of the organisation).
24 page brochure for Romania's largest property developer
This brochure was designed for Impact, Romania's largest property developer who were seeking to improve the promotion of their completed as well as in-production developments and Romania as a country to invest in. One impressive project in Cluj a mixed development of over 3000 flats, 2500 houses and a range of business and leisure facilties.
'Different' and 'sophisticated' was the general guide so I decide on a 'curved' edge to the brochure as well as a nice use of metallic silver on the cover.
Inside a flexible structure was introduced with horizontal lines used as device from which to connect pages and hang imagery from.
Exhibition panels for Romanian property developer
Impact, a leading property developmer in Romania, required some panels designed for their stand for a property at Olympia. The stand was designed to promote Romania as a location for property with particular emphasis on the developments of the property developer.
Unfortunately the client decided to redesign the banner area so all I had to do is research a panaromic landscape of the Carpathian mountain range.
eBulletin form for IPU
A simple form design for the Inter-Parliamentary Union allowing people to subscribe to their online eBulletin service in both English and French.
Helping improve pitch proposals for outdoor media company
CBS Outdoor International, a global player in outdoor advertising and part of the CBS corporation in the US, wanted to improve their pitch presentations. This 83 page document aims to provide templated designs as well as specific content on various aspects of their operation for managers to include in their proposals.
Supplied on DVD and in printed form to their international offices, the template was constructed using Indesign in order to allow for maximum flexibility.
The framework itself was kept simple with a number of grid options available.
Stand design for Romanian property company
The stand, a simple shell structure with three sides, was designed to promote Romania as an investment destination as well as details on property developments and background information on the developer (Impact) and agent (Property Investment Expertise).
Advertising concepts for web hosting company
HostingUK, required a set of advertising concepts which highlighted their strengths in areas such as their low costs, reliability, their partnering with hardware manufacturers as well as their heritage as an established provider and the bespoke services they offer.
I felt the black and white imagery (see below) provided a good visual style with which to seperate themselves from the competition. Additionally these sorts of images lend them selves to the use of humour with the use of straplines emphasising their service and expertise.
Unfortunately, the client decided not to go with these ideas but I thought I'd share them as I think some had a good degree of mileage in them.
Logo options for Urban Resilience report
Urban Resilience, a term used to describe how individuals and groups adapt and survive in hostile urban environments.
These logos were presented to the Small Arms Survey group in response to their brief for something which encapsulated this idea for a forthcoming report.
One of the main themes I wanted to explore was the use of a plant growing on uneven ground against an urban backdrop. Others were more direct with the use of bullets/gunshots etc - I wanted to juxtapose the fragility of the plant/flower with the destruction of armed violence.
The Small Arms Survey will decide which one to use in the near future but I thought I'd share these first.
Website masthead for
One Life Left
A videogame radio station, One Life Left, needed a masthead for their website/blog. As someone who listens to the show I thought I'd provide them with my take with a joypad/radio combination in a simple graphic style. An energetic colour scheme of black and yellow seemed to suit the nature of the show as well as the style of the illustration.
Their name logo style was already established, so I just added a strapline to make it a bit more meaningful.
Membership news issue 12
A rather short four page newsletter for the Institute of Hospitality with the membershipnews publication (normally its eight or twelve pages).
Self assessment toolkit internal spreads
The Inter-Parliamentary Union, based in Geneva, required a simple layout for the main document of their self assessment toolkit document. Simple and accessible, the document was also translated into two other languages.
A4 gatefold leaflet
In order to promote various property developments in Romania, Property Investment Expertise required a leaflet to encompass a wealth of information. The cover mimics the style adopted for their promotional card, forms and website with the pie segments home to the main image of the development.
This A5 card, designed for Property Investment Expertise, was created in just two hours as the client had an exhibition they were asked to attend at the last minute. Digital printing was used due to time constraints onto 350gsm silk stock with a turnaround of just a day. Not bad all round.
Welcome to an updated website. Wider and little tidier, this is the third iteration of my site in eight years. If you notice any problems please let me know.
If you are seeing a slightly corrupted screen you may need to 'refresh' your page (press F5).
Blogsite for hosting company
My first blog for an organisation. This was for Bytemark Hosting who specified a program called Typo (similar to Wordpress) to work with. It was a little tricky at first then pretty easy once I worked out its idiosyncrasies and how blog programs like this work.
This website was designed for an international photography exhibition concerning 'Guns in an Urban Landscape'. Featuring the work of four photographers this supporting website was used to support the exhibition at a conference at the United Nations.
Background report for Geneva Declaration
This background paper was designed for the Geneva Declaration project concerning the reduction of armed conflict worldwide. The client didn't want to use imagery on the cover so I decided to use an abstract version of the logo I had created.
Logo for Geneva Declaration
I have just completed this logo for This logo was developed for the Geneva Declaration project. The client wanted the G and D to form the logo which I obliged with a number of different concepts. One particular route I tried hard to push which you can see if you click the link below.
The Small Arms Survey group monitor the use of small arms worldwide. In order to help the group on the ground a range of weapons leaflets has been developed. An ongoing project, the hope is to put together 100 leaflets covering a broad spectrum of weaponry which are also available online.
Invitation to Livebookings event
This invitation was designed to promote a breakfast seminar for those customers of Livebookings seeking to get the most of their software. A network event with some high profile media outlets.
Logo for Primary Care Trust
This logo was designed for a Primary Care Trust's intranet website. The simple motif of a leaf/tree helps reinforce the knowledge and learning gained from this complex online resource.
Website template live
Having created a website template for Romanian property company Property Investment Expertise, the company have now completed the coding which is now live. It's a great translation of the static pages I designed with all elements working as intended.
Homepage design and build
This revamped homepage for Bytemark was designed to be an engaging starting point for visitors ( which I also coded as well). Using a combination of bold imagery and signposting this page will be accompanied by some revised supporting pages in the near future.
Commissioned by design agency Fast Floor, this suite of eight-page brochures were created for group of baliff organisations who had been merged under one identity (whilst retaining their original names). I used black and white imagery to emphasis the differentiating colour scheme between organisations and convery the serious nature of their business.
As part of their 'Built by Hand' concept seen in their leaflets and adverts, an exhibition banner was required.
Soviet style poster/leaflet
Based on their recent advert, this a3 sized poster was developed to further detail Bytemarks main offerings.
Bytemark, a leading web hosting provider, required an advert to promote their hand built servers as part of their hosting service. This advert was designed as a one-off approach to tie in with their presence at a forthcoming computer show.
The client was inspired by an illustration of a raised fist. This very soviet style image was duplicated and the phrase 'Built by Hand' was used (its bold and simple message harks back to the soviet posters of old).
As part of the ongoing development of Bytemark Hosting's advertising, a couple of new adverts were produced. The quarter page advert shown above was designed as a new approach to their promotion style. Previously solid yellow backgrounds with cutouts were used (see example here), this version takes the yellow and creates a simplified line which allows for full page images to be used and avoid the headache of sourcing cutout style imagery.
Covers for reports
A couple of covers for a recent Inter-Parliamentary Union report into gender within Parliaments throughout the world.
Plesk interface skin
The default look of an interface for the Plesk webserver management required a change for Bytemarks customers. A custom designed one was created to better reflect their branding from their logo to tailored buttons and backgrounds. I was also required to manipulate the underlying CSS code in order to add the skin from which Bytemark would provide the new look to its customers.
This reservation form for Property Investment Expertise was designed to enable direct input of all the fields within a PDF format which keeps the form tidy and consistent. Once complete the form is printed for the customer to sign.
Property website template
Having carried out an audit on their website, Property Investment Expertise required an application of my comments into a website template (which is aimed at people wishing to purchase property in Romania). I created fourteen new pages including the homepage, all of which covered a range of different areas.
